MRS. BRADBURY IS DEAD
Mother of L. A. Bradbury Succumbs March 13 After Living in County 55 Years.
Mrs. Mary Ann Bradbury, for fifty-five years a resident of Cass County, died at midnight, March 13, in the home of a daughter, Mrs. W. W. French, in the Everett community. She had been ill a year and was 78 years, 11 months and 3 days old.
Mrs. Bradbury was the daughter of B. D. and Mary Ann Hocker, the date of her birth being April 10, 1855, near Hustonville, Lincoln County, Kentucky. In 1869 she moved with her parents to the western part of Cass County, near the present town of Lisle. On "January" 15, 1871, in the Coldwater schoolhouse, she was united in marriage with Andrew J. Bradbury, and to this union two sons and two daughters were born – Lee A. Bradbury of Drexel, Mo.; Mrs. W. W. French of Archie, Mo.; Mrs. B. B. Limpus of Drexel. The oldest son and child died in infancy. Mr. Bradbury died March 7, 1926.
During the past eight years Mrs. Bradbury had made her home with her children in the Everett community. When 12 years old she united with the Christian Church in Hustonville, Ky., and was a charter member of the Brosley Christian Church, which was later moved to Drexel. After moving to the Everett community Mrs. Bradbury gave freely of her time and talents to the erection and "maintenance" of the present Everett Christian Church. She was a faithful Sunday School teacher for forty years and was devoted to her family. She had been confined to her bed for the past year, but bore her affliction patiently and courageously, even looking forward to the time she would be reunited with her beloved companion.
The death of Mrs. Bradbury will be mourned by her three children and eight grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. The funeral service was held in the Everett Christian Church Wednesday afternoon, her pastor, the Rev. Linn Lyon being in charge. Burial was in the family lot in Sharon Cemetery.
