Clara Mae Allen, 82, passed away Sept. 12, at the Palo Verde Hospital in Blythe.
Clara was born May 28, 1923, in McKensie, Tenn. to Hobert and Lula Mae (Thomas) Harris.
Clara married the late Robert Allen in Arkansas. She and Robert came to Blythe in 1955.
Clara was a homemaker for 55 years and a resident of the Palo Verde Valley for 50 years. She was an extremely kind, loving and caring person, but was also quite stubborn.
Along with caring for her immediate family, Clara was also a caring parent to foster children. She also had a love for flowers and enjoyed gardening and kept busy doing her puzzles, playing cards (especially Rummy) and cooking.
Clara was a wonderful cook and enjoyed cooking for her family. She was a devotee to the Bible and made sure her children learned all about the holy book. She will be greatly missed.
Clara was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Allen, and children, Raymond Allen and Martha Clements.
She is survived by her children, DeVonda Cormell of Blythe, Shirley Combs of Brainerd, Minn., Juanita Gage of Blythe, Robert Allen of Riverside, Rick Allen of Costa Mesa, and Lasonda Boyens of Blythe; brothers and sisters, Annie, Faye, Louise, John, Jerry, Ken and Roy; as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation was Sept. 15 at Frye Chapel. Funeral service is today, Sept. 16, at 10 a.m. also at Frye Chapel with interment following the services at Palo Verde Cemetery.
There will be a gathering at the American Legion following graveside services.
In lieu of flowers, a donation box will be present at the American Legion to help toward expenses. Donations can also be made at Frye Chapel.
