Mrs. Victoria V. Castro, 51, a Hughson district resident for the past 30 years, died Tuesday evening in a local hospital.
Mrs. Castro, a native of Corvo, Azores Islands, came to the United States in 1912, at the age of 14. She lived in Bedford, Mass., for a year before moveing to California. She resided in Oakland for seven years prior to coming to the Hughson district in 1920.
She was a member of the St. Anthony's Catholic church of Hughson. She also was a member of the Hughson Alter Society and of the SPRSI of Hughson.
She leaves her widower, John Castro Hughson; four sons, George, Ernest, Edward and David Castro, all of Hughson, and nine grandchildren.
She was the sister of John Vieira, Mrs. Anna Laurence and Mrs. Joe Pimentel, all of Hughson; Mrs. Mary Roderick, Sonora and Mrs. Emily Silva and Joseph Vieira, Oakland.
Rosary services will be recited Friday at 8 p.m. at the Hale Funeral chapel and a requeim mass will be offered Sat. at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony's church in Hughson, with Father Thomas Browne officiating. Interment will follow in Turlock cemetery.
