He was born May 25, 1911 in Tecumseh, to David and Elizabeth (Lanning) Hammill.
On April 37, 1937, he married Esther L. Dowell in Brooklyn. She preceded him in death on Feb 14, 1990.
Mr. Hammill was a graduate of Tecumseh High School, 1929. He lived 40 years of his life on a farm south of Tipton, moving to Onsted five years ago. He was employed by Bruce Foundary of Tecumseh where he was a coremaker until the plant closed. He was also a farmer and carpenter. He was a member of Grace Bib.e Church near Tecumseh where he was former treasurer and served on the Church Board. He was also a member of Lenawee County Farm Bureau, the North Adrian Grangs, and the Lenawee County Conservation Club.
He is survived by one son, Raymond L. Hammill of Mt. Clemens; one daughter, Mrs, Jerry (Sharon) Mix of Florence, Ord.; one brother Roy Hammill of Adrian; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Wayne Hammill, one brother, John Hammill and one sister, Marian Hammill.
Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. from Dunn Chapel, Brown-VanHemert Funeral Home, Onsted, with the Rev. David Holly officiating. Interment will be Franklin Township Cemetery, Tipton. Friends may call at the funeral home today from 2-9 p.m.
