Birth: 1840
Death: Oct. 8, 1862

Born in 1840; son of John F. and Sarah Bell; enumerated as a carriage maker working in Danville, Boyle Co., KY in 1860; elected 6TH CPL of Co. D in 1861; killed in action at the Battle of Perryville, KY on Oct. 8, 1862 at age 22; according to NARA’s “Registers of Deaths of U.S. Volunteers, 1861-1865”, Bell’s cause of death was “vulnus sclopet.”, meaning wound inflicted by gunshot; father John F. Bell applied for a federal pension on May 23, 1872 (app. #203,503);
