Lillian Bryne Smith was born in Kentucky in 1896 to David J. & Lillie Smith. She came to Clovis, New Mexico with her parents in 1909 and spent most of her life in New Mexico. She was married 5 times and had two children - both with her second husband. She first married Elmer O. Kirk on 11 Feb 1914 in Clovis. They divorced sometime between 1917 and 1920. She married William H. Johnson on 6 Nov 1920 in Clovis. Her two sons, Jesse T. Johnson (b.1922) and Robert Lee Johnson (b.1928) resulted from this marriage. She divorced Will Johnson and married Jacob Jay Grubaugh sometime between 1940-1950. Jacob died in Spokane, WA in 1950. She married A. William "Will" Mims on 3 Oct 1959 in Roosevelt County, NM. He died in 1970 and she married Charles Goebel Armstrong on 16 Dec 1971 in Clovis. Lillie died in Clovis in 1979.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Lillie Johnson Armstrong, 83, who died Saturday at Clovis High Plains Hospital, will be conducted at 10 am Wednesday, from Steed Memorial Chapel with Rev. Don Wrigley officiating. Burial will be in Mission Garden of Memories under the direction of Steed-Todd funeral home.
Mrs. Armstrong was born Oct. 9, 1896 in Kentucky and had been a resident of Clovis since 1909. She came with her parents from Kentucky and they homesteaded in the northern part of Curry county. She was a member of the Advent Christian Church and the Claud Rainey Day Club.
Survivors include two sons, Jesse Johnson and Bob Johnson, both of Clovis: two sisters, Mrs. Hettie Pipkin of Clovis, and Mrs. Bertie Parker of Fort Morgan, Colo.; three grandchildren and nine great-granchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Johnson, in 1962.
Pallbearers will M. A. (Buck) Kos, Walter Fulgham, Emery Kirk, Bud Marks, Clyde Barne and Sammy Chandler.
The casket will be closed at the services but friends may call at the funeral home.
