Carter Anderson, 64, Dies Sunday - Funeral service for Carter Anderson, 64, of 929 S. Main Street, was arranged for 4 p.m. Monday at Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Mr. Anderson, for several years traveling salesman for Poole Manufacturing Company of Sherman, died Sunday at 5:30 a.m. in a Galveston hospital where he had gone for surgical treatment. Names as pallbearers were Wayne Anderson, E. L. Anderson, W. J. Johnson, A.M. Aikin, Sam Leverett Jr., and Morgan Johnson, the Rev. Walter Vanderpool of First Methodist Church conducting the service. Mr. Anderson leaves his wife, the former Miss Alwilda Baker and five children, three by his first marriage, Mrs. James W. Williams and Herschel W. Anderson, Dallas; Blake Anderson, Platte City, Mo.; Mrs. James E. Bass Jr., El Reno Okla., and Dr. Carter Anderson Jr., Tyler; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, besides these sisters and brothers; Mrs. Joe McClain and Mrs. Cora Combs, Cooper; Mrs. Asa Williams, George Anderson and Dudley Anderson, Lake Creek; Mrs. Jesse Spencer, Sulphur Springs; Mrs. O. W. White Dallas, and Leon Anderson, Grapeland. He was born near Lake Creek, Dec 19, 1883, son of the late C. E. and Mary Taylor Anderson and attended schools at Lake Creek and Cooper. He came to Paris about 1919, and for a number of years, operated the Carter Anderson Co, dry goods, firm here. Since then he had been a salesman for the Sherman concern. He was a member of First Methodist Church, and the Masonic Lodge, and during World War II, was a member of Selective Service Board No. 2. Source: Paris, Texas newspaper.
