Hazel cared for her family faithfully and well during the hard times of the depression and the challenging days of World War II and after. Earl and Hazel retired to a home in Geneva in 1956, when Robert took over operation of the farm. After Earl passed away in 1978, Hazel continued to live at home until the infirmities of age required her to become a resident of Long Term Care in the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva in 1995.
Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Earl, parents Wenzel and Dena, brothers, Clarence, Ralph and John, sister, Bernice and infant sister Velmie Irene.
