Walter F. Aliski, 78, of New Road, Avon, husband of Ruth (Schinkel) Aliski, died Saturday, (June 11, 1994) at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center, Hartford. He was born Aug. 17, 1915 in Avon, son of the late John and Frances (Kulikowski) Aliski, and had lived in Avon for most of his life.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Mr. Aliski was employed as a Tool Maker and Set Up Man at Hurley's Manufacturing, New Hartford, for more than 30 years prior to his retirement in 1980.
Besides his wife he is survived by a daughter, Hope Jurgen of Avon; four sisters, Ann Albrycht of Burlington, Frances Casale of Florida, Jennie Gilbert of Windsor Locks, Irene Petroff of Florida; four grandchildren, Heather Wilcox, Haley Jurgen, Kevin Stavnitzky and Tammy Aliski; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two children, Walter J. Aliski and Faith A. Stavnitzky.
Funeral will be Tuesday, 9:15 a.m., from the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike, Canton, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m., in St. Ann's Church, Avon. Burial will be in Village Cemetery, Collinsville, at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike, Canton, today 7-9 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Avon Police Department D.A.R.E Program, c/o Avon Police Department, 60 West Main St. Avon, 06001.
