A Vancouver resident for 32 years, Grover C. Allred died Wednesday, July 26, 2000, of pulmonary fibrosis in Vancouver. He was 73.

Mr. Allred was born Feb. 9, 1927, in Como, Texas. He was in the Army from 1945 to 1946 and in the Navy from 1951 to 1953. He was also a professor of anthropology at Clark College and retired in 1990.

He belonged to the Michael Servetus Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Vancouver.

Survivors include his wife, Lora of Vancouver; a son, Eric of Edmonds; two sisters, Dorothy Sue Savage of Stockton, Calif., and Velda Anderson of Dallas; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday at Michael Servetus Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. The body was cremated (adapted from an article in the Oregonian).
