Cleo D. Anderson, born November 13, 1906, passed away September 3, 2000 at the age of 93. He spent early years in the Wise community in Van Zandt County. He attended Prairieville High School and Jacksonville Baptist College before moving to Dallas and attending barber college. Cleo owned a barber shop on Greenville Avenue across from the Arcadia Theatre and worked in that profession for some years. Later in his life he was a home builder in northeast Dallas. He met his wife Velda when they both attended First Baptist Church and were married sixty five years. He joined A.C. Garrett Lodge #1216 in 1943 and is a past Master. He has been a teacher of Blue Lodge candidates for many years. He was also a member of Valley of Dallas Scottish Rites and Hella Shrine. He was always active in his church, Wilshire Baptist Church, and has served as Deacon a great number of years. He is survived by his wife Velda (Allred); daughter and son-in-law Barbara and Charles Newton of Glendale Heights Illinois; two grandchildren, Helen Turgeon of South Elgin, Illinois, Larry Newton of Plainfield Illinois and five great grandchildren.
