"Trainmen Are Killed Outright and Many Die From the Result of Bums and Other Injuries,
THE DEAD. Dan McAnna, conductor of freight train, single man, Slater, Mo.
D. J. Anderson, engineer of freight train, leaves wife and three children, Slater Mo.
Prank Brings, engineer of passenger train, Slater, Mo.
I. S. Rogers, express messenger, Chicago ..."
Anderson was engineer on a special freight train heading east from Marshall that collided with a passenger train heading west from Slater. The trains met at a high speed on a curve. Eight people including engineers on both trains, were killed outright. Many were severely injured and some died later. The accident was covered in detail by many Missouri newspapers and reports can be searched on the internet.
