Geraldine "Gerry" (Weeder) Aubert, 87, passed away on April 4, 2010, Easter Sunday, at her home of more than 58 years while surrounded by family. She was born on September 28, 1922 in Hillsdale, Michigan to Lela Gay (Olmstead) Weeder and Melvin Jacob Weeder and was one of seven children.
Gerry attended the Lakeview Schools in Battle Creek. During World War II, Gerry worked in a local factory which manufactured airplane valves. After the war, she was employed at Percy Jones Hospital in Battle Creek where she met her late husband, Raymond Aubert. Gerry married Raymond Aubert on July 13, 1951 in Angola, Indiana. They purchased a new home in Battle Creek and lived together in this residence until shortly before his death in 2009.
Geraldine enjoyed her family, reading, working crossword puzzles, gardening, concerts, garage sales, and playing cards. She also had grand memories of her trips to Europe and Turkey. She especially enjoyed children of all ages and was very nurturing with her own children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She lived a very full life.
Gerry was predeceased by her parents, husband, Raymond Aubert, sisters, Willo Root, Hazel Weeder, Susie DuMont, and brothers Rex and Max Weeder. She is survived by two sons, Thomas (Irma) Dunton of Battle Creek and James (Judy) Dunton of Las Vegas, Nevada; brother, Harold Weeder of Battle Creek; six grandchildren, Kelly (Mikeal) Gutsue, Stefanie (Joseph) Kinney, and Marc Dunton all of Battle Creek and Paris, Ginger, and Jamie Dunton all of Las Vegas, Nevada. She is also survived by six great grandchildren, Audreanna Dunton of Kalamazoo, Karlee and Madison Gutsue of Battle Creek, Jennessa and Skylar Dunton, and Anthony Dodson all of Las Vegas, Nevada.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 8, 2010 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. Funeral services to celebrate Gerry's life will be conducted on Friday, April 9, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Carl Schneider officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
A luncheon will be held at St. Mark Lutheran Church following the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Borgess Hospice, the American Diabetes Association , or a charity of one's choice.
