Alfonso R. Blackford, 79, Julia's Valley Manor, formerly of Moville, Iowa, died on a train near Helper, Utah after a sudden illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Christy Morningside Funeral Home. The Rev. Ross Lukken of Bethel Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Arlington Township cemetery at Moville. Visitation will be afternoon Friday in the funeral home.
Mr. Blackford was born 17 March 1905, at Mapleton, Iowa. He moved with his parents in 1906 to Moville & lived there until moving to Sioux City in June 1984. He married Matilda A. Kendall, 22 December 1926 in Dakota City. She died 27 July 1984, in Sioux City. Mr. Blackford was a machinist for Sioux Tools until retiring at age 65. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Survivors include a brother, Marvin of Sergeant Bluff; a half sister, Margaret Tomlinson of Kingsley, Iowa; 2 half brothers, Jerry Blackford of Moville & Everett of Florida; & his step-mother, Mrs. Edith Blackford of Moville.
