John, devoted and loving husband, beloved father and grandfather, died December 4, 1990. Born October 18, 1904 in Homer, Louisiana. Survived by daughter, Eula Kathryn Baum and son-in-law, Richard E. Baum; grandson, Dr. R. Allen Baum and granddaughter-in-law, Diane Baum; nieces, Eleanora Richards and Laurie Ann Moffett; nephew, Harry L. Viser, Jr.; kind and loving caregivers. Graduate of SMU and taught school in Winnsboro, Texas, where he met and married Sadie Goldsmith. Moved to Dallas in 1947, employed by General American Oil Company as Manager of Insurance and Tax Dept. until 1971. Following retirement, became tax consultant and manager of bank dept. at Meredith and Cochran until 1984. Advocation of music began with marching band at SMU, dance orchestra in Shreveport, Louisiana and Hella Temple Band. Member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite (32nd degree) and York Rite bodies. Long-time member of First United Methodist Church, serving as president of Men's Bible Class. Funeral services, Saturday, December 8, 1990 at 12:00 Noon, Chapel of First United Methodist Church. Dr. Hal Brady and Rev. James E. Reaves officiating. Entombment Hillcrest Mausoleum. Honorary pallbearers: J. D. Brown, Carlton Meredith, Bill Thomas, and members of Men's Bible Class. If desired memorials, may be sent to the First United Methodist Church of Dallas for the John and Sadie Allen Memorial Fund.
