Wilma Lucille Antrobus, 72, died at the Grandview Christian Home in Cambridge, MN on Aug. 17, 2007.
She was born Feb. 22, 1935 in Denver, Colorado, the daughter of William Jr. and Geraldine (Norman) Stringham. As a teenager she worked at Montgomery Ward in Denver, and it was there that she met Robert Antrobus. They courted for two years before marrying on March 7, 1954.
Four children were born into their family. Bob Jr. and Dale were born in Denver, Colorado, and Gary and Donna were born in Glendale, California while the family was living there. They later moved to the hills in Tunjunga, California, which is a suburb of Los Angeles.
Wilma was a bookkeeper at the Burbank Hospital and sold auto insurance for a Chevrolet dealership for many years. The family lived in the Los Angeles area until 1972, when a major earthquake shook them off to Minnesota to live in the country.
Wilma, Bob and their children lived in various towns around the east central area and eventually settled near Rush City. Wilma was employed at Plastech Corporation in Rush City for five years. In May of 1982, she opened "Wilma's Fabrics" in Rush City and sold fabrics, patterns, and notice to the ladies in the area. In the fall of 1983, she moved to a larger location and expanded the fabric store to a fashion store, as well. She also taught many classes on fashion, sewing and quilting.
In Nov. of 1994, she closed the door to "Wilma's Fashions & Fabrics" for the very last time and retired. She and Bob bought a motor home and a new puppy and hit the road. They traveled everywhere from Wisconsin to Graceland, and eventually bought a house in Davenport, Florida. They traveled back and forth from Minnesota to Florida for 12 wonderful years.
Wilma and Bob were life partners. One could not live without the other and when Bob died only eleven weeks ago due to lung cancer, Wilma was lost without him. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. She will be missed, as she was very dearly loved.
She is survived by her children; Dale and Annie Antrobus of Yankton, SD, Gary and Carolyn Antrobus of Pine City, and Donna & David Loehrer of Princeton; 14 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren, sisters, Martha Mead and Terri (Jim) Janssen, both of Pine City; brother, William (Marian) Stringham, IL of San Dimas, CA, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She also preceded in death by her parents William Jr. and Geraldine Stringham, husband Robert Antrobus, Sr. and son Robert Antrobus, Jr. sister Barbara Bitton and brother Phil Stringham.
Funeral services were celebrated at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21 at the Husteltown Community church in Hustletown, MN with Major Chuck Hendrickson of the Salvation Army officiating. Music for the service was provided by Charlotte Strelow, Jessica Oakland, and Jonnica Landeis.
Casket bearers included Gary Antrobus, Dale Antrobus, Nicholas Antrobus, David Lochrer, Jeremy Ertz, and Jim Janssen.
The interment was in the Hustletown Union Cemetery northeast of Pine City; Chengwatana township. Arrangements were entrusted to the Funeral and Cremation Service, Olson Chapel, Rush City.
