ATCHISON, VERA L. (nee KOWALENKO), age 56, and was a current resident of Waterford, passed away February 5. She was born September 29, 1959 in Detroit to the late William and Claudia Kowalenko. Beloved wife of the late Robert Atchison. Loving sister of Helen (Osni) Baltazar and aunt of Nicholas, Andrew and Danny of Berkley, Calif.; sister of Christina Kowalenko of Troy, aunt of Michael Romanowski Jr., and Aleksandra Romanowski of Sterling Heights. Survived by her daughter, Natalie Carbary and grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Joshua and Brianna of Gainesville, Fla. Also survived by her aunts, many cousins and dear friends. Visitation Tuesday, 3-9 p.m. at the Sterling Heights Chapel of the E. J. Mandziuk & Son Funeral Directors, 3801 18 Mile Road (NW corner of 18 and Ryan). Panachyda 7 p.m. Funeral Wednesday 10 a.m. at St. Mary the Protectress Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, 21931 Evergreen Road (between 8 and 9 Mile) in Southfield. Interment at Manasota Memorial Park in Bradenton, Fla. Family would appreciate memorials to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
