Maynard Everette Reynolds, called "M.E.", by his friends, was a hard working, honest, model citizen of Corvallis Oregon.
Married on September 1, 1914 at Kearney, Buffalo County, Nebraska, Everette as he was called by his life-long wife Inez, was a school teacher early on, and later a farmer (homesteader) in Ziebach County, South Dakota.
In times which were quite difficult, (mid-1930's), he yearned for a better life and environment for his family. He and his wife found such at Corvallis, Oregon, a lush fertile land of golden opportunities and bountiful crops (1942).
It was at Corvallis that Mr. Reynolds found success working as a grocery wholesaler for Hudson-Duncan & Company, which in turn, led to his owning and operating his own grocery store (Reynolds Food Market).
Later, he worked for the Henry Helser Company, and lastly, he managed the Surplus Food Program for Benton County.
In his spare time, he enjoyed family, the outdoors, road trips, Rving and fishing on the Alsea with his wife Inez, cooking, making homemade soap, neighbors and friends, and reading his Bible, every afternoon for an hour so, in his favorite chair in front of a sunny window. He loved to work around his beautiful beloved home in the garden and lawn.
Finally, after many years of hard honest work and service to his community, Mr. Reynolds enjoyed a well-earned retirement at 75-years old and lived out his life to the rich age of 99.
He is missed by family and his many friends! He was the most devoted husband who (later in life) without a day passing would reminisce and talk of his love for his sweet Inez, who passed away too young. He was remembered by many of his former students, and still so today, as one of the best teachers they had ever experienced. He was without a doubt the best grandfather in the world- a man who lived a life few could match or aspire to.
