Col. Edward Prescott Noyes was the son of Edward Prescott Noyes and Jule Floyd Noyes. He was raised on Satilla Bluff Ga. in Ceylon which was a Mill Town.
He joined the army as a private and rose through the ranks to become a full Colonel. He served in WWI as a battery engineer and commanded the Railroad Guns in most of the major American Battles. After WWI and into WWII he was a training officer.
He married twice. His first wife was Mildred Crosby who he divorced not long before his marriage to his second Wife Helen. He adopted Helen's daughter Ruth Ann. He had no biological children.
"Uncle Ned" as he was known and beloved to his siblings' children and the many Floyd cousins retired to Fernandina Florida where the Noyes family had settled after the civil war.
Although raised in the Episcopal church he attended the Lutheran church after his retirement because he found St. Peter's church in Fernandina to be too high church.
He had a typical Noyes personality: intelligent but not brilliant, well read, affable, and easy going. He did not inherit the quick temper of the Floyds.
