KERMIT ALEXANDER SR., 81, died Sunday at his Glen Avon home. Born in Louisiana, Mr. Alexander lived in Riverside 35 years. He was a farrier for 40 years, including at Santa Anita, Los Alamitos, Del Mar and Hollywood Park racetracks.
He served in the U. S. Marines in 1944 and 1945.
Mr. Alexander is survived by his wife, Christine; eight daughters, Robyn and
Stacey, both of Moreno Valley, and Geroldine, Jean Marie, Barbara, Crystal,
Daphine and Mary Ann, all of Los Angeles; five sons, Kermit Jr., Kirk, Troy,
Neil and Gordon, all of Los Angeles; 17 grandchildren; seven
great-grandchildren; two brothers, Albert and Charles, both of Louisiana; and
five sisters, Thelma, Mary, Martha, Myrtle and Jolie, all of Louisiana.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Riverside National Cemetery.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Friday at Akes Family Funeral Home in Riverside.
