Longtime Douglas resident, Mildred S. Allen, passed away May 1, 2004, at Infinia Health Care of Douglas.
She was born July 27, 1906, in Piqua, Ohio, to Clyde and Mona Hendricks Spillman. In 1946 she moved to Douglas and later worked as a secretary in the Purchasing Department at Phelps Dodge.
Known to her friends as "Millie", she enjoyed her bridge clubs, playing golf, painting and art, through the years. She held membership in St. Luke's Women's Concerns Society, Douglas Golf and Social Club, Douglas Historical Society, Douglas Art Association and the Women Golfers Association.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Walter B. Allen, her parents and a sister.
A Rosary was held Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at 10 a.m. at St. Luke's Catholic Church followed by Mass at 10:30 a.m. Burial followed at Julia Page Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were: Bill Mason, Tom Savage, Dusty Mason, Randy Mason, Bob Benson and Dominic Aira.
Donations in her name can be sent to St. Luke's Women's Concerns Society."
