|Death: ||Apr. 5, 1864|
Thomas H. Gillaspie my Great Great Grandfather was the husband of Mary Jane Golden Gillaspie, son of Thomas Thompson and Jane Walker Gillaspie. Per my Uncle Ben Gillespie's research his Mother died in 1849 and he became a ward of his sister Melinda C. Gillaspie and brother in law Samuel R Morrow. Thomas began serving as a chaplain in 1863. He was attached to Co. A in the Arkansas I Division. He was killed in a sqirmish at Mark's Mills and is believed to be buried there. When his wife Mary Jane Golden Gillaspie applied for his pension July 19, 1892 she stated he died on April 5, 1864 which differs from the historical date of the battle at Marks' Mills which was won by the Confederate troops. to be continued
