Lee Baker was born on August 17, 1919 and passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2009 at the Hazard ARH Medical Center in Hazard, KY. Lee was born at Busy, KY., the son of the late Green and Sarah Stidham Baker.
He was a life-long resident of Leslie County, KY. Lee was a U.S. Veteran of World War II and a retired coal miner. Mr. Lee Baker was a member of the Stinnett Church of Christ at Hoskinston, KY.
Lee Baker was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elizabeth Couch Baker; a son, John D. Baker and his wife Patsy; one brother, Beecher Baker and six sisters; Alta Hoskins Howard, Nancy Ann Hoskins Morris, Nannie Baker Howard, Harriet Baker Lawhorn, Amy Baker Begley and Susie Baker Hatton.
He leaves the following relatives surviving: four sons: Lonis Baker and Carol of Hyden, KY., David Lee Baker and Betty Gail of Stinnett, KY.,Robert Daniel Baker and Deborah of Asher KY. and Wayne Baker and Betty of Stinnett, KY. one daughter, Norma Morgan and Wade of Hyden, KY., two sisters, Martha Baker Stidham of Xenia, Ohio and Mary Baker Mosley of Hyden, KY; eleven grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, also a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends survive. Funeral services for Mr. Lee Baker was held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at the Stinnett Church of Christ at Hoskinston, KY. with Keith Bowling and Earnest Roberts officiating.
Burial followed in the Baker Cemetery at Busy, KY. under the direction of Dwayne Walker Funeral Home Staff. Military Rites was observed by the Leslie County DAV Chapter #133.
Mr. Lee Baker's grandsons served as his pallbearers. Visitation began at 7:00 p.m. Monday-August 10, 2009 at the Stinnett Church of Christ.
