Nellie was the 6th of 7 children born to James Sylvester Raney(1864-1934) and Mary Ellen Bratton(1860-1918)(Alice B ,George W ,Minnie ,Susan ,Benjamin Hobart , and Nora ).She was born in Forest City,Holt County,Missouri.The family moved to Doniphan County,Kansas before 1905.She met and married Homer Victor Christian(1893-1952)on 14 September,1915 in Troy,Doniphan,Kansas.They had 6 children before her death in 1928.Louise ,Mary Jane ,Delbert ,Arlene ,Hazel ,and Ruby .
