Services for Milton James Adkins, 86, were held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2007, in Noble Chapel at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Rick Baggett officiating.Interment was in Hillcrest Memorial Park under direction of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home .
He was born on Aug. 21, 1920, in Oklahoma City, to William James and Lucille Mae Parker Adkins and died Aug. 20, 2007, at a local health care facility.
Milton graduated from Capital High School in 1938 and attended Draughon Business School. He joined the U.S. Army in July 1942 and was honorably discharged in November of 1945. While in service he was presented the Bronze Star Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Service Star, World War II Vitory Medal and American Service Medal
He and Marguerite Conaway were married on July 19, 1941, Oklahoma City. She preceded him in death on July 4, 2007. He moved to Ardmore in 1961 and worked for Bacon Inc. until he retired. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Forrest Lack, and a sister Edna Weaver.
He is survived by a daughter, Melody Farrell, and her husband, Brad, and granddaughter, Crystal Farrell, all of Norman.
