Rose Chime was born in Reggio Calabria, Italy. Birth year may be 1898. She married fellow Immigrant Rafael - Ralph Joseph Pullano - a Shoe Repair Man. Their first son - Salvatore Samuel F. was born in Waukegan, Lake Co., IL. They moved to Michigan City, LaPorte Co., IN where Son - Ralph Joseph,Jr was born. In 1927 they located to Niles, Berrien Co., MI where Daughter Clementina was born.
Tragedy struck the family on March 10, 1929 when Ralph,Sr. and another Italian immigrant became embroiled over money - Ralph was shot and died. Rose was left destitute with three very young children. The Italian community rallied around her. They collected $75.00 so Ralph could be buried at Silverbrook Cemetery - Instead of having his body sent to the Univ. of Michigan to be used as a Cadaver in the Medical School!! She went on to raise those three to become fine adults! Rose later married another Shoe Repair Man - Nicholas Rocco Belcastro. They became the parents of Rosemary. The marriage was not a happy one and Rose was once again on her own as a single parent. She was employed at French Paper Mill during her working years. She is interred with Ralph,Sr. Pullano, Daughter Clementina and Son - Ralph,Jr at Silverbrook Cemetery. Son Samuel is interred at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix. She was survived by Eight Grandchildren.
