Grandpa was raised in Maryland but later moved to Newark New Jersey to take a job working on the docks. He rented a room at a local boarding house where he met and later married my grandmother Muriel.
They started raising a family in Newark but decided to return to Baltimore where grandpa opened a Tavern for a while but gave that up and they returned to New Jersey.
Ill health forced him into an early retirement so he took over the household while my grandmother worked. A total reverse in roles but one they were both happy with.
He was the briber of the family. Always sneaking us kids candy, cookies and his favorite toasted coconut marshmallows. It got to the point that the kids always called him grandpa cookie.
Grandpa was a great cook.
He loved fishing and crabbing.
We think of him often.
