Anna Emelia (Struck) Scantlebury Brainard (72) was the daughter of Susanna Gujer (1844-1923 Swiss immigrant) and John Henry Struck (1832-1887 German immigrant) who settled in Kilbourn City Columbia County, WI. On Mar. 19, 1889 Anna married (1) John B. Scantlebury and lived with him 39 years until his death.
On Oct. 10, 1929 in Little Cedar, Iowa at the Methodist church widower, Anna, married (2) Henry David Ross Brainard, son of James Brainard and Violet Catherine Nicol Brainard, formerly of St. Lawrence County, NY.
They farmed in Union Township, Mitchell County 1 mile west of David, Iowa. They were members of the Methodist Church in Stacyville, IA. (no children)
Anna is preceded in death by her loving husband, Henry David Ross Brainard (64), who unexpectedly died of heart failure aggravated by heat exhaustion working in their corn field; She is preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Matilda Susanna Struck ,(1867-1911) who married Andrus B Pulver.
Since Henry's death, she moved from David, Iowa to Stacyville, IA to be closer to her church and doctor.
She is survived by two sisters--Mrs. J.C. Crane, of White Creek, Wisconsin, and Mrs. W.G. La Fon, of San Antonio, Texas, who, together with several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends, remain to mourn her passing from death until life.
