Elmer Ellis Agerton, 72, of Ringold, died Tuesday, Aug. 12, at Idabel. He was born Jan. 30, 1925, at Ringold.

Agerton had lived in the community since September 1996, moving from Bakersfield, Calif. He was a retired welder, served his country in the U.S. Marines during World War II, was a member of NRA, the American Legion, Masonic Lodge, VFW, and Welders Local 460, all of Bakersfield, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elvie and Effie Agerton.

Survivors include two sons, Steve Allan Agerton and Jason Ellis Agerton, both of Bakersfield, Calif,; three brothers, Alfred Agerton of Ringold, and R.J. Agerton and Gearld Agerton, both of Bakersfield, Calif.; one sister, Priscilla Agerton of Bakersfield, Calif.; and four grandchildren, Chase Agerton, Mandy Agerton, Jared Agerton and Kristie Agerton, all of Bakersfield, Calif.

Graveside services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Ringold Cemetery.
