LEBANON, Maine — William "Billy" Charles Hennelly, 50, of 194 Hubbard Road, died Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at his home.

He was born Oct. 6, 1959, in Rochester, N.H., the son of the late William "Buddy" and Madeleine (Levesque) Hennelly. A lifelong resident of this area, Billy was a graduate of Somersworth High School, Class of 1977. He served proudly in the U.S. Navy on the aircraft carrier USS Saratoga, where he was deployed in the Mediterranean. Billy worked at Prime Tanning for many years and most recently worked for the past 10 years at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as a boiler operator.

He was a communicant of Holy Trinity Church of Somersworth, N.H., and a member of the American Legion Post 69 of Somersworth. Billy's hobbies included hunting, fishing, water skiing, and four wheeling. He especially loved spending his summers at the family cottage in Milton Three Ponds, but he most loved his three children, with whom he shared, and taught, his love for the great outdoors.

Members of his family include his children, Ashley Hennelly of Berwick, Maine, Shelby Hennelly and Buddy Hennelly, both of Lebanon; brother, James Hennelly and Lori Folts of Somersworth; his sisters, Kathleen Sessler and husband, Rick, of Strafford, N.H., Maureen Michel and husband, Dana, Susan Richardson, Mary Pat Hennelly and Cheryl Hansen, all of Somersworth; nieces, Lindsay Michel, Mallory Michel and Morgan Rowell and husband, Steve; aunts and uncles, Paul and Marge Hennelly of Florida, and Peter and Rose Rutherford of Massachusetts, several cousins and numerous close friends.

Family and friends may visit Sunday, March 21, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the R. M. Edgerly & Son Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., Rochester, N.H.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church, 404 High St., Somersworth with Fr. Michael Taylor, as celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery Somersworth.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his name may be made to the Brain Injury Association of NH, 109 North State Street, Ste 2, Concord, NH 03301.
