Enlisted in Company I of the Eleventh Michigan Infantry on August 24, 1861, for 3 years. Discharged for disability on August 5, 1862, at Nashville, Tennessee. Enlisted in Company D of the Reorganized Fourth Michigan Infantry on September 3, 1864, for 3 years. Mustered out of service on May 26, 1866, at Houston, Texas.
