MARY ALDERFER Mary "Betty" Elizabeth (Delp) Alderfer, 90, of Sellersville went to be with the Lord, Saturday, August 13, 2011 at Rockhill Mennonite Community. She was the wife of the late Wellington K. Alderfer. Born in Souderton, she was a daughter of the late Ephraim and Grace (Wismer) Delp. Betty began her employment at Schoenoman's in Souderton and for Dexdale in Lansdale. From 1947 to 1963 and from 1966 to 1971, she and her husband lived in Vermont where they helped plant a church in Andover. During the 1960's, Betty was a seamstress at Flamstead and was a proof reader for Readex Micro Print, both of Chester, VT. During the 1970's, she was a real estate agent for Robert C. Alderfer in Souderton. From 1975 to 1976, she worked with her husband pastoring in Bridgewater Corners, VT. From 1977 to 2001, Betty assisted her late husband as Chaplain of Rockhill Mennonite Community and continued that ministry throughout her life. She was an avid reader who enjoyed knitting, quilting and spending time with her family. Betty enjoyed her church family at Salford Mennonite Church of Harleysville. She is survived by sons Terry W. Alderfer and wife, Jean Marie, of Emmaus, J. Edward Alderfer and wife, Faith, of Melbourne, FL, and Steven D. Alderfer and wife, Karen, of Washington Boro; daughters, Christine Moyer and husband, Clare M., of Pennsburg and Mary Anne Alderfer of Capon Bridge, WV; a sister, Grace W. Landis and husband, Abe, of Lansdale; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold W. and Robert W. Delp. A viewing will be held at Rockhill Mennonite Community Chapel Tuesday, Aug. 16 from 5 to 8 PM. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 17, at 2PM at Rockhill Mennonite Community Chapel, 3250 State Road, Sellersville, PA 18960. Burial will take place at Salford Mennonite Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to: Rockhill Mennonite Community Samaritan's Purse Fund, (above address).
