Dr. Lara Barnett, M.D., 28 May 1970 - 2 September 2006, Texas
This is my beloved wife, Lara. She had just finished medical school and was two months in to her residency at Scott & White Hospital in Temple, Texas.
To honor her – be a compassionate listener; be a careful observer; do strong work; look past the surface of your colleagues, friends, and those in your workplace; be true to yourself and to your beliefs; and speak openly and honestly with those whom you love and who love you.

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft star-shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.
