Gladys was one of ten children born to James Franklin Pieratt and Martha Ellen Vest. Siblings were Henry, Emma, Modie, Florence, Russ, Dude, Naomi and Jessie.

She came with her family to Kirkland in 1905 where she met and married Ernest Hunt Adams, the son of John Quincy and Sophie W. Adams of Kirkland.

Gladys and Ernest had one child, James Franklin, who died at birth.

Funeral services for Nannie Gladys Adams, 61, were held Wednesday afternoon at the First Methodist Church at 4 o'clock. Rev. E. E. White, district superintendent officiated.

Mrs. Adams died Tuesday, August 14 at about 6:30 a.m. in the Childress General Hospital, after a long fight to regain her health. She had been in failing health for a year and was hospitalized several weeks ago.

She was born February 14, 1895 in Williamson County, Texas, and moved to Childress Co. in 1905. She and Ernest Adams were married in Kirkland on December 14, 1918 and made their home there until moving to Childress in 1943.

Survivors include her husband, Ernest; two brothers, R. H. Pieratt of Childress and Buford Pieratt of Amarillo; and five sisters. They are Mrs. Roy Key, Mrs. Jess Key, Mrs. Emma Caradine, Mrs. E. J. Hassell of Childress and Mrs. W. P. Close of Kirkland. Pall bearers were Bud Adams, E. M. Watson, Vivian Jones, Fay Eatherly, George B. Howard, Jack Sides, Clinton McGhee, and Harold Wright. The flower committee was composed of Mmes. Lou Nell Collins, Grace Cartledge, Minnie Watson, Kathryn McGhee, Gladys Benham, Lena Howard, Vergie Wallis, Pearl Perkins and Christine Williams.

Burial was in the Childress Cemetery under the direction of the Newberry Funeral Home.
