Mrs. Florence Bowers, a former resident of Hopewell, died at her home at Doylestown, Pa., on Wednesday of last week. She was born 79 years ago in Missouri. For a period of about 40 years Mrs. Bowers lived in Hopewell, where she was noted for her skill as a seamstress and where she conducted a millinery store for a number of years. She was also active in promoting community affairs. Following the Hopewell fire in which her property was destroyed Mrs. Bowers moved to Doylestown, where she had since resided. She was united in marriage with Henry Harrison Bowers, a veteran of the Civil War, who died 10 years ago. She is survived by one son, Elmer A. Bowers, an attorney of Elkins, W. Va., and by three daughters, Mrs. John E. Landis, Sr., of Indiana, Pa., Myra Bowers of Doylestown, and Miss Louella Bowers of California. The body was brought to Hopewell on Friday and funeral services were held at the Methodist Church at 10:30 a.m., with Rev. Hammond officiating. Interment was made in the Hopewell cemetery. [If Florence died in 1935. and her husband died 10 years previously, that indicates that Henry died in 1925 rather than in 1915 as is indicated on his tombstone.]
ALthough her death certificate indicates she is buried in Hopewell Cemetery, her name is not on a marker adjacent to Henry's.
