Sam was the youngest of three children born to BENJAMIN ABLES (born in Budapest 1878-1965) and ANNA COLEMAN/COLLMAN from Russia (1890-1966).
He played baseball in New York before coming to the Sacramento area. He married RUTH MAXINE EDWARDS in her parents home on September 26, 1942. He and Maxine would go on to have three children as well.
