Tipton County Lady, is Dead
At Ripe Old Age of 85 --- Husband is 92 Years Old
A death that occurred over in Tipton County, four miles west and a quarter north, at an early hour this morning, reveals a remarkable family whose longevity is beyond the average of today.
Mrs. Matilda Blood, aged 85 years died at 4:30 a. m., at her residence on the Blood farm, of old age. She had been in remarkable good health considering her years, up until a few weeks ago when she began to fail and sank rapidly until the end came. She was the mother of nine children and is survived by her husband, Ransom W Blood who is 92 years old, and three children, the remainder having proceeded her into the great beyond.
Mrs. Blood was born in Virginia in 1882 and came to Indiana when a mere strip of a girl and had grown up with the country, witnessing all the hardships that fell to the lot of the early pioneers. She was married quite young and with her husband had accumulated a nice little farm and the luxuries of a modern life that falls to the lot of the Indiana farmer.
The funeral will take place at the late residence tomorrow, Thursday, at 1 o'clock. Rev. Blackburn officiating and interment will follow in Cook Cemetery at New Lancaster.
Owing to the wide acquaintance of the Blood family, the remarkable age of the dead woman and the living husband, the funeral will be the largest attended that has taken place in Tipton County for a number of years.
A number of Elwood people will go out to New Lancaster to pay their respects to this grand old woman.
