Susanna Russell Smith Johnson was probably born in Salem, Mass, but had her birth recorded in Windsor, Connecticut. Her Russell family originally came from Salem.
She first married Richard Smith and had one son, Graves Smith.
She and her husband, Capt David Johnson, had three daughters, two of whom married brothers, sons of Eliphaz and Hannah Stearns (also buried in Dover Center Cemetery):
Cynthia, who first married Asaph Stearns. After his death in 1795, she married David Rice in 1800, and then Paul Clark in 1813. Cynthia and Asaph Stearns named their only son Graves Smith Stearns, after Cynthia's half brother.
Lucretia married Elijah Stearns. Lucretia and Elijah are buried in Dover Center Cemetery. Lucretia is buried beside their twin sons who died in infancy. Elijah is buried beside his 2nd wife, Catherine Clisbee.
