Johnnie Elbert Avitt, age 81, of Irvington, died September 7 [1974] at his home in Irvington. The son of Charles L. & Sarah Dowell Avitt, he was a retired farmer from the Lodiburg community. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Della Deacon Avitt. Also surviving are one son, Johnnie Elbert Avitt Jr., Louisville; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday, September 9, at 2 p.m., at Walnut Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Don McKaskel and Rev. W.F. Thompson officiating. Burial was in Walnut Grove Cemetery, with Alexander Funeral Home in charge.
