Rescue Attempts Fail; Children Die
Two children died in hospitals Saturday, ending rescue attempts that began when they were pulled from swimming pools in separate incidents Thursday and Friday.
Dead are Jackie Ann Adams, 9, of Weatherord and Jeffrey Paul Hemmy, 6, of Salina, Kan.
The girl, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy A. Adams of Weatherford, died in a hospital here. She had been at the Elk's Club swimming pool at 3401 White Settlement Road with her parents Friday.
She was found about 7:35 p.m. and was given mouth-to-mouth resuscitation at the scene and en route to the hosptial but did not regain consciousness.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Cotten-Bratton in Weatherford.
Hemmy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hemmy of Salina, Kan., died in an Arlington hospital. He has been in critical condition since Thursday.
His family was traveling though Fort Worth on vacation when they stopped at a motel on East Lancaster.
The youth went to the pool ahead of his othr who discovered him.
His body will be sent to Rush-Smith Funeral Home in Salina for burial.
