Rena Grace "Gracie" Norrell Abercrombie was the wife of James K. Abercrombie.
D-U 1 Nov 1929
On last Monday afternoon the people in and around Loretto were made sad when the death angel came and took away Mrs. Gracie N. Abercrombie, to her home of rest. It was such a shock. She was taken ill on Friday, but not seriously, and was up and ate dinner Monday with the family; but was taken ill again at two-thirty, with an attack with her heart, and only lived a few minutes. All was done that loving hands could do but God knew best.
Mrs. Abercrombie was such a sweet mother and wife and true friend to all. Her whole heart's desire was to be good and kind to every neighbor. She was 56 years, six months and nine days of age.
She joined the Missionary Baptist Church at the age of 18 years, and had lived a true Christian until death took her away. She leaves to mourn her going away, her husband, ten children, six grandchildren. One child and two grandchildren have already gone home to rest. She is also survived by one sister, a half sister, three brothers and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was laid to rest at Union Hill cemetery Tuesday afternoon in the presence of a large congregation. Bro. Speakman spoke the comforting words, which was her request.
