Donald Austin, 48, died Monday night after being hospitalized from injuries he suffered from a house fire that started earlier in the day.
Austin lived in the 17000 block of Julie Drive in the Spring Grove mobile home park.
The mobile home park is on Dixie Highway north of East Holly Road in Davisburg, MI.
Theories that the blaze was caused by an electrical problem by Springfield Township fire officials were confirmed Wednesday, although family members say they are still skeptical.
Austin had just completed a portion of treatment for an injury to his foot, according to family members.
He had worked for Palace Sports & Entertainment, performing a number of duties that included snow removal and maintenance, said Hilda Hubbard, companion to Austin's father, Donald Austin Sr.
Austin had worked for the entertainment venue since it had opened, but was on disability because of health issues involving his foot, Hubbard said.
The health issues resulted in surgery.
In his spare time, Austin loved to watch movies and read novels about the old west and mysteries.
"He was quiet," said Hubbard, joking that he was "to quiet sometimes."
Austin is also survived by brothers Kevin Austin of Holly and Ronnie Austin of Grand Blanc.
He will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. March 19 at the Spring Grove mobile home park.
Cremated, Ashes given to family or friend.
