John D. "Jack" Albanese, 59, of 8442 State Rte. 13, Canastota, died Thursday at his home, surrounded by family and friends. He had worked in construction for 37 years, with the Laborers International Union Local #633 of Syracuse, retiring in 2005 due to his health. Jack was predeceased by a sister, Marcia Frink, in 1991. Survived by his faithful chocolate Lab, Hershey; his wife, the former Sharon Garbinsky Moth; a son and daughter-in-law, John D. III and Shelly Albanese of Canastota; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Kelli and Keith Walters of Fayetteville, Becki and Theodore Lewin III and Vicki Albanese, all of Canastota; two brothers, Francis Albanese of Canastota and Lawrence Albanese of Mathis, TX; two sisters, Millie Grossman of Chittenango and Marlene Albanese of Canastota; seven grandchildren, Wyatt Albanese, Owen Albanese, Kyle Walters, Korey Walters, Katey Walters, Tyler Lewin and Fallon Lewin; as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. At Jack's request, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. Arrangements by J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota. Contributions can be made to Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 4277 Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford, NY 13413 or the American Cancer Society, PO Box 7, East Syracuse, NY 13057.
