After Vi's sister, Nellie (LaBorde) Denson, died 28 August 1946 in Oakdale, Antelope Co, NE, shortly after giving birth, Vi and Lee reared Nellie's baby daughter.

For most of their married life Vi and Lee lived in Denver across from Lakeside Amusement Park on north Sheridan Boulevard and ran a small pool hall a couple of blocks up the street. After retiring in 1970 they moved to Las Vegas to enjoy their hobbies of card playing and gambling. Vi also enjoyed crocheting and knitting; Lee was an expert at pool.
