Warren C. Beckemeyer
73, of Rochester died Sunday at his residence.
He was born Feb. 20, 1923, in Beckemeyer, the son of Emil P. and Catherine Shaffer Beckemeyer. He married Alva Pletscher in 1949 in Trenton.
A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, Mr. Beckemeyer graduated from McKendree College. He worked as a supervisor the Illinois Bell Telephone Co., retiring in 1982. He was a member of Rochester United Methodist Church, Trenton Lodge AF&AM, Consistory, Ansar Shrine, Telephone Pioneers, American Legion Post 274, VFW Post 11463 and was a charter member of Rochester Lions Club. He was a past board member of Beverly Farms Foundation in Godfrey, Lincoln Memorial Garden and Springfield Aid to Retarded Citizens.
Survivors: wife, Alva; three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Janet) Reed of Matthews, N.C., Susan King of Firth, Idaho, and Carol Beckemeyer of Godfrey; a son, Steven Beckemeyer of Salt Lake City; 11 grandhchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Rochester United Methodist Church, the Rev
Patty Johansen and the Rev. Mike Crawford officiating. Burial: Rochester Cemetery. Wilson Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
