Nancy Paschall Dingler
Birth: Aug. 15, 1766
North Carolina, USA
Death: Dec., 1837
Troup County
Georgia, USA

Wife of Johannes Dingler. Across the road from the fenced part of Whatley Cemetery are many rocks placed as markers of graves. We do not know who they are.

Nancy Paschall was the daughter of Samuel & Pherreba (Ward) Paschall and granddaughter of William and Reliance Paschall, an old established colonial family. William was of French Huguenot descent. This family's arrival in N.C. has been placed from 1683-1720. The Paschall family had several land grants in Granville County from Lord Granville.

It is probable that Nancy was born in Granville County.
She was the 8th child in a family of 13. Her siblings were: Reliance, Mary, William, John, Rachel, Sarah, Susannah, Milley, Bettie, Pherreba, Samuel, and Milton.

Nancy and Johannes (John) Dingler were married near the close of, or shortly after the close of the Revolutionary War. They spent the first few years of thier married life in N.C., moving later to Elbert County, GA and from there to Morgan County. Their children were: William, John, Sarah, Samuel Dennis, Milly, Henry, Pheriby, Catherine Kimble, and Jonathan.

After the death of Johannes in 1816, Nancy moved to Jasper County where she owned land and later to Troup County.

Her will was probated in Troup County, GA on Jan. 15, 1838. It reads:
January the 3rd in the year of our Lord one thousand Eighteen hundred and thirty seven--I Nancy Dingler being Sound in mind and memory doth commit my soul and body into the hand of god and have this day made this my last will and testament to wit--I do give and bequeath to Matilda Smith one trunk--also I give unto Katherine Edwards one coverlid--also I give unto Henry Dingler one coverlide--also I give unto William Dingler's heirs one dollar--also I give unto Samuel Dingler one dollar--then I give all the rest of my estate unto my son Henry Dingler and daughters Sarah Coffman and Milly Tucker and Pheriby Tucker and Katherine Edwards after my decease--all my estate to be equal divided between the five last mentioned--also I leave Jeremiah Tucker and John Tucker my executors to my will--if there should be any of the heirs dissatisfied they shall have none of my property. Signed and Acknowledged in the presence of us, Kinchon Taylor, Jeremiah R. Smith, James Hawk.
