Eldor served his country during World War I in the Marine Corps. He was a boxer during his service in the Marine Corps. After his military service, he helped build Boulder Dam and the Golden Gate Bridge. He always referred to the huge dam as "Boulder Dam" as he disliked it being renamed "Hoover Dam".
After his military service, he lived in Southern California where he worked in construction jobs building roads and in steelworking. He returned to Tulare Co., CA where he was engaged in farming for the remainder of his life.
