Obituaries: Ex-Plumber E. H. Dye dies
Ernest H. Dye, 88, who took part in the reconstruction of San Francisco following the disastrous earthquake, died Sunday at a Long Beach convalescent hospital. Dye was a native of Goshen. He was working as a plumber in San Francisco and Oakland when the quake struck after graduating from Liberty school and Tulare High School. He moved to the family farm in 1915 and as a plumber worked on the Tulare Theater building and on reconstruction projects following two major fires in Tulare. Dye moved to Huntington Beach in 1938, as a dairy rancher. He remained there until retiring in 1962. He was a native of Goshen and was a member of the Long Beach Church of God and was a former member of the Tulare Co. Farm Bureau.
Survivors include his widow, Pearl; three sons, Bob Dye, Tulare, Raliegh Dye, Los Angeles, and Glenn Dye, Long Beach; a daughter, Mrs. Lawrence (Viola) Knob, Santa Cruz and 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Gable Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Albert Kempin, Long Beach Church of God, officiating. Burial will be in Tulare Cemetery.
