Mrs. Barnett was born in Coalgate, Okla., on Dec. 19, 1920 to Cordelia and John Quincy Imoe. In 1929, at the age of nine, the family moved to Portales. She graduated from Portales High School in 1941 and on May 23, 1941, she married Willard Barnett in Portales. They made their home in Clovis, Belen and Vaughn during the next 23 years, transferring with the railroad. Since 1964 she has made her home in Portales. For seven years she worked as a day care mother for the State of New Mexico. She was a member of the Third and Kilgore Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by both parents; five brothers;two sisters,and a daughter,who died at the age of nine months. Survivors include her husband, Willard of the home; a son,a daughter, two grandchildren, two brothers, and two sisters. Graveside services for Mrs. Barnett were held in the Portales Cemetery on Wednesday at 2 p.m. Thom Moore officiated and Chris Swinford assisted.
