Ezza Ann Stratton was born on 16 Oct 1863 on the farm in Guthrie County, Iowa. She was the 5th of 9 children born to Ezra Millard Stratton and Lucy Ann Robinson. After serving in the Civil War in the 1st Independant Battery, Iowa Light Artillary, with General Sherman and his march to the sea in Georgia, Ezra mustered out on 5 Jul 1865. In 1866, he gathered up his family and headed west on the Oregon Trail, arriving in Woodland, Cowlitz County, Washington Territory, on 8 Oct 1866, where he homesteaded on the Lewis River, a few miles east of Woodland. On 2 Mar 1886, Ezza married Asa Jeril Gaylord at Ezra's farm in Cowlitz County, Washington Territory. They had one child, Thomas Ralph Gaylord, born 22 Mar 1887 in Woodland, Cowlitz County, Washington Territory. On 14 May 1889, Ezza married Amos Albert Burke in Kalama, Cowlitz County, Washington Territory, and they had 2 children, James E, Jun 1892, and Albert Amos, 29 Jun 1899. She died 18 Apr 1937 in Woodland, Cowlitz County, Washington..
